The Recent Eta Car RXTE X-ray Lightcurve

X-RAY brightness vs. phase Recent X-RAY brightness vs. phase X-RAY brightness vs. time

Click on the images above to view the RXTE Eta Car lightcurve through 2008/06/19.
Phases are calculated according to the following ephemeris:

HJD X-ray minimum = 1997.9604 + 5.54156E

See Corcoran, 2005, AJ, 129, 2018. The PCA lightcurve in tabular form (Table 2 from this paper) is available.

At Phase 1.77 (corresponding to Mar 12, 2002) the X-ray flux increased significantly over the expected flux from the previous cycle. The X-ray lightcurve from the previous cycle is repeated as the red curve.

2004-Apr-22: The net rates are now calculated using the corrected PCU2 faint background models. See http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/xte/pca_news.html for more details.
